John Lewis was an American statesman and civil rights leader who served in the United States House of Representatives for Georgia’s 5th congressional district from 1987 until his death in 2020.

He was part of the civil rights peaceful protest in 1965 in Selma, Alabama where images of his beating on national TV lead to the quick passing of the Voting Rights Act.

Also, known for “Getting in Good Trouble”, he will be missed by a generation that witnesses his commitment to equality for all human beings
